Sage, Transylvanian Blue (Salvia transsylvanica), Packet of 20 seeds, Organic

(1 customer review)

$3.95

Family:  Mint (Lamiaceae)

Hardy to Zones 7 to 9, otherwise profitably grown as an annual (flowers in the first year)

Native to the Transylvanian mountains of Romania, this is a robust, full-flowered, fragrant, bright blue sage that is quite comely and attracts butterflies and other pollinators to the garden.  The flowers are large, bright, and long-lived.  Can be convinced to flower  the entire gardening season by cutting back and allowing to regrow, which these do quite nicely.  Flowers to 18 inches. Plant prefers sun to part shade and is elevation tolerant.  Easy warm soil germinator.  Best to start indoors and work up in pots, but quick enough to germinate so that it can also be started directly in the spring garden.  Space plants 18 inches apart.

packet of 20 seeds, certified organically grown
