Family: Buckwheat (Polygonaceae)

Hardy to Zones 3 to 9

Herbaceous perennial native to Europe and North Asia.  Members of this family (Buckwheat=Polygonaceae) are processed of an opalescent stipule that sheathes the base of leaf stem.  One of the pictures in the gallery demonstrates this phenomena.  The presence of the ochrea is a good field identification for Polygonacea.   Back to yellow dock.  Traditional usage (TWM): laxative, iron supplement, cleansing herb of spring.  Deeply taprooted plant prefers moist ground, partial shade to sun.  Here’s a plant that will grow readily in clay!  Strew seed on disturbed soil in the fall, spring or summer.  Partial germ within a few weeks and ongoing germ for at least 3 years.  Flowers rusty-red to 3 feet.

Packet contains 100 seeds
5 g contains ~1,700 seeds

    yellow dock for electric iron!!!

    Tristan (verified owner)

Yellow dock is an electric, iron rich herb. This plant is a natural, non-hybrid plant made by God (of heaven). I thought this plant was an annoying weed for years because of the shagginess and how it looks until I found out the power of this herb and I realized I was the annoying weed. The seeds are full of love. Medicine is everywhere and this has been growing wild in my yard my whole life and I just found out what it is. You need iron from natural plants, not supplements! This plant is very prolific and I got a large amount of seeds from about 3 plants that never really grew that well in their location. Natural plants are electric and healing for the body. Hybrid plants are neither!
