Slow growing over winter months. Expect them to take off when they get planted outside soon!

How long did it take them to germinate? I have heard that it can take two years in a greenhouse was that your experience? Did you prepare them in any special way or just put them in soil?

Hi Tim,
the germination of Aletris farinosa is discussed in great detail in the Aletris chapter of my book “Growing At Risk” Page 256 indicates 5 weeks germination time at 68 degrees F in acidic medium, fast-draining, and the seed must receive light (phytochrome light-dependent germinator). Richo

Hello Konstantin, The plant likes a moist and sandy soil in the full sun. It is tolerant of acidic soils. There is an entire chapter on cultivating Aletris farinosa in my book “Growing At-Risk.” richo
