Tomato, Amish Paste (Lycopersicon esculentum), packet of 20 seeds, organic

$3.95

Family:  Nightshade (Solanacea)

Annual:  80 to 90 days to fruits.

Indeterminate vines produce sparse, meaty, oblong fruits that are excellent used fresh, canned, or made into a thick sauce.  These make sparse vines that are best caged or tied up to a 4 foot stake.  This keeps the fruit off the ground and makes them perfect.  These are very tasty tomatoes, and are the largest paste tomatoes I’ve seen.  They contain very few seeds.

Notes specific to this tomato:  I found that they worked best when caged.  At first I thought the production was sparse, but they came on very heavy in the late season.  The fruits are really very large and quite soft when ripe–it is like holding a guinea pig.  These melt down fast into a thick sauce.
