Tarragon, Mexican (Tagetes lucida) seeds, organic
$4.95 – $9.00
Family: Aster (Asteracea)
Hardy to Zones 6 to 10.
(Mexican Tarragon, Pericon, Mexican Mint) Plant figures prominently in Huichol art, an inspirational and vibrant yellow flower. As a spice, the leaves are a harmless additive to eggs and other protein dishes, rendering them savory, and the flavor is very much tarragon, but also anise. Traditional usage (TWM): Colds. Plant prefers full sun and regular garden soil or dry, marginal soils. I like to sow these in pots or flats in the greenhouse about 6 weeks prior to last frost, then set out in the spring garden. They need moisture to get established but once established will withstand much drought. Plant 1 to 2 feet apart.
