Sunflower, Mexican (Tithonia rotundifolia), packet of 30 seeds
$3.95
Family: Aster (Asteracea)
Annual, 120 days to maturity.
Mexican Sunflower. Native to the drylands of Mexico and the US. In garden culture, a powerful, soft-leaved bearer of gorgeous, velvety flowers. The plant branches freely and remains in flower for months. Drought tolerant, yet appreciative of adequate water to produce the finest display. I found these seeds extremely easy germinators both in the greenhouse and direct-seeded into the spring garden. The plant needs lots of room for roots as well as aerial parts, will suffer if left potted up for too long, and prefers to grow in warm soils.
