$3.95
Family: Legume (Fabaceae)
Hardy to Zones 4 to 8
Herbaceous perennial to 4 feet tall, native to the central and southeastern states. Bright yellow flowers on a plant that emerges late and grows fast. Traditional usage (TWM, American Indian): Laxative, vermifuge. Plant prefers sun to part shade, adequate moisture, and is not picky about the soil. Nick seed and soak in water overnight, then sow in warm medium, with germ in 1 to 6 weeks. Transplant to successively larger pots until large enough to withstand the rigors of the landscape. A good choice for the apothecary garden.
