Evergreen perennial native to the mountain ranges surrounding the northern rim of the Mediterranean, at elevations up to 4,200 feet. Flowers white to pink to a height of 18 inches. Harvest the preflowering tops several times in the summer, shade dry, and rub out the stems. This makes good spice. Traditional usage (TWM): Carminative, antioxidant, antibacterial against MRSA. Source of thymol and carvacrol. Start small seeds indoors in pots or direct seed in good soil in the spring. Space 2 feet.

This is one of my favorite plants in my garden. It does really well in the soil here (sandy and well drained, I think) and does well without much water during dry summers. It has a beautiful shape and stays in flower for a long time. Tasty spice, especially in stews. Thank you for these seeds.
