(Yellow Dotted Mint, Horsemint) Biennial or shortlived perennial native to the Eastern US.  The plant has yellow flowers dotted with purple, as well as very decorative display of bracts in tiered whorls.  Excellent tea plant.  Traditional usage (Native American, TWM): common cold, stomach cramp, cough. Potent source of thymol.  Plant prefers full sun to part shade, forest soils or garden soils.  Sow seed in spring on surface, tamp in securely and keep moist until germination, which occurs in 2 to 4 weeks. Space plants 2 feet apart.

      Hello Isabella,
      I personally have not found these to be self-sowers and often the mother plants do not overwinter. I tend to replant these yearly, as they are exquisite.
