(Virginia mountain mint)  Herbaceous perennial native to Eastern Canada south through the American midwest and eastern states.   Flowers in profuse clusters on the branchy plant, white with purple marcations to a height of 2 feet.  This tough, bushy plant is an excellent choice for the herb garden, being compact, long-lived, delightfully aromatic and a great butterfly attractor. Voted one of the best tea plants.  Source of menthone.  Prefers sun to part shade and moist soils.  Plant does well in standard garden culture spaced 2 feet apart.
