Jewelweed, Orange (Impatiens capensis), packet of 20 seeds
Jewelweed, Orange (Impatiens capensis)
(Touch-me-not, Orange Jewelweed)
Family: Touch Me Not (Balsaminaceae)
Annual, native to central and eastern US. The flowers are orchid-like, spurred and orange. Fresh plant, when rolled and worried until it exudes juice, dissolves poison-oak oils (urushiol) on the skin and also helps treat poison oak rash, helping heal the skin and relieve itching. I find that the seed is best planted in cold soils of fall or spring and grows rapidly once it germinates.
