(Blushred Rabdosia) Herbaceous perennial native to China. The crown is tough and clumping, not spreading. In zones 8 and 9, the plant acts like an herbaceous perennial. In zones 10 and 11, a woody perennial bush. The flowers are long-lasting and showy. The foliage emits the fragrance of basil and pine. Traditional usage (TCM): Breast cancer. Source of diterpenoic molecule oridonin. Plant prefers normal garden conditions, with sun and regular watering. These are pretty on a border and tend to size themselves well in potted culture. Sow in spring. Barely cover seeds, tamp and keep evenly moist until germination, which takes 10 to 30 days. Pot up to successively larger pots. Space 3 feet apart.
