Datura, Jimson Weed (Datura stramonium) seeds, organic
$3.95 – $26.10
Family: Nightshade (Solanaceae)
Annual, 40 days to flowers
Self-seeding annual native to North America, currently distributed worldwide. Flowers light blue or white on a purple stem. Direct seed in warm, sunny location, or start in greenhouse in flats or pots. Traditional usage external only (American Indian, TWM): motion sickness, rheumatic and glandular swellings. All parts of the plant are toxic–leaf, root, flower and seed. This plant must never be ingested! Plant prefers full sun and dryish soils. Sow in warm soil, keep moist, and if germination does not occur within a week or two, allow the flat to dry out, which often spurs germination. The seeds are very wild, and can remain in the seed bank for many years and germinate when conditions are right (sunlight, dry and warm). Space plants 3 feet apart.
50 seeds/pkt.
5 g contains ~750 seeds
10 g contains ~1.500 seeds

Excellent quality seeds, prices, & personal care. Not many companies take pride in their products like yall, & I’ll speak for all of us that we highly appreciate it! These plants are approx 25-32 days old, & theirs been over 7 beautiful flowers already! This is year 2 with results beyond expected, can’t wait to see how the B. Sanguinea grows🙃

Hello Ds, Thanks for the vote of confidence–we try. The photo comes to me barely bigger than a thumbnail but that’s a typical white jimson weed looking flower–dature stramonium. But what glimpse I can get of the pods looks like they are elliptical and not as spiny as a stramonium–may be a different cultivar–there are many. richo

In an episode of Outlander, the main character (medicine woman, essentially) treated someone with asthma by having him take a few puffs of thorn apple (jimson weed). Have you ever heard of using it for asthma?

I live in northern Alberta, Canada and it took 12 days from the moment I clicked buy and it showing up at my door. I was expecting it to take a week just for customs, but maybe I got lucky. Nice packaging. I would buy from you guys again, thanks.

Question
Rosie –
Are the datura seeds washed and dried..? How long does it take to ship it to Canada..?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Richo Cech –
Hi Rosie,
Datura seeds are processed without washing. The follicle splits open, we shake the seeds out and further dry them on screens and then package. We give fast turnaround on orders, but there can be significant customs delays going to Canada. Richo

I have a volunteer plant like this in my garden, is there any good reason to keep it around?
(0) (0)
Richo Cech –
Hi Stacy, on the good reason side the flower is beautiful, the aroma is enticing, attracting some very showy pollinators. On the other hand if you don’t know what to do with one this year you’ll be even harder put to find use for a hundred next year–they easily self-seed. richo

Richo Cech –
Hi Kyle,
I this case I am simply watching the new crop develop and will list when harvest occurs, probably Sep or Oct. I was taken by surprise with the popularity of these this year.

Do you ship international to japan

Richo Cech –
Very sorry to say that Japan has been shut down to us. Standard seed shipments are being seized, and even the buyer is being hassled. r

riley –
will these thrive in a controlled indoor tent environment? do you ship to nyc?
(0) (0)
Richo Cech –
hello riley, i see these happiest when they volunteer, usually in dryish soils, outside, in the garden. you might have trouble getting them to come up in an indoor tent environment. Maybe things like lettuce or kale would be a better use of the space. richo
