    Champion, indeed!

Despite a weird, wet summer of flooding and water-logged beds (NW Vermont), these were maintenance-free (kept em covered), remarkably green, and one sowing in spring kept us fed June through November (and they’ll continue to, as we have bags of blanched balls in the freezer and more in the “outdoor” freezer). And they’re delicious! Oh my goodness, with some olive oil, salt, and ginger, there’s nothing finer. Very prolific. Though there are perhaps more exciting crops, this one has my heart for its life-giving consistency. The fact that one packet of seeds costs less than a (very) small bunch at the co-op is mind-boggling. We consistently harvested a dozen large bunches a week from our community garden plot. Filled me with gratitude every time. Thank you!
