Celandine (Chelidonium majus), packet of 50 seeds, organic

$3.95

Family:  Poppy (Papaveraceae)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 8, may be grown as a quick annual is seeds are planted early in cold soils–90 days to harvest

(Greater Celandine, Celandine Poppy) Short-lived herbaceous perennial native to Europe and temperate Asia.  Very comely, with slightly downy stems and leaves that look inviting to eat (but don’t eat them) studded with bright yellow flowers.  Traditional usage (TWM): warts, cancer, alterative.  Low dose botanical.  Plant prefers shade to part sun and very fast-draining soil.  It volunteers heavily and roots very securely into the cinders that make up the pathways in our shadehouses.  The seeds germinate best when planted in the shade (dark dependent germinators). Plant grows and prospers in the cooler parts of the year. Cover seed lightly and keep evenly moist until germination. Sow in the fall or early spring. Space plants 18 inches apart.  Flowers to 2 feet.

50 seeds/pkt., Certified Organically Grown

      Hello Anida,
Greater celandine does fine in pots. The plant does like shade to part sun so a windowsill planting would probably do fine. They make cheery flowers, too.

This plant is the Greater (Chelidonium majus) seed is true because there is a very similar Celandine Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) seeds, but that plant is not available for treatment, so I want to be sure that the seed is the Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus). my second question which cargo company you are sending cargo tracking is possible

      Hi There,
Stylophorum is the woodland poppy–we do not offer this. What we have is Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus). We send all seeds via POSTAL SERVICE, which if you are international means FIRST CLASS MAIL INTERNATIONAL. We do not offer any other shipping services internationally.

I live in Valdosta Georgia and technically its summer right now. I do have a large shaded area in my backyard. Can I plant them now and how long would they take to bloom and gain roots?

      Hi LaDonna,
No, the celandine is an early spring plant, it does not do well planted in summer, unless the seed, perhaps, sits in the soil and germinates and grows when the weather cools. r
