Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani) packet of 10 seeds

$3.95

Family:  Pine (Pinaceae)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 10

(Lebanon Cedar) Evergreen tree native to the Mediterranean and capable of reaching a height of 130 feet.  Mentioned 75 times in The Bible.  The strong and aromatic wood of this stately tree has been extensively used in construction, historically used for providing masts for the ships of the Phoenecians, framework for the pharonic tombs and King Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem.  The bark was used medicinally for treating leprosy, and the heartwood is distilled to make an expensive healing essential oil.  Tree prefers full sun to part shade and is highly adaptable, growing in various soils, as long as they are well drained.  Our seed is very plump and fertile, harvested from ripe cones from our own trees.  We store the seed under refrigeration to maintain good viability.  Sow seed in outdoor conditions in fall for germination in the spring.  Alternatively, soak seed overnight in room temperature water and then place in moist medium in refrigerator for 30 to 120 days, then remove from refrigeration and sow in warm conditions.  Barely cover seed, tamp securely and keep evenly moist until germination, which takes at least 30 more days.
10 seeds/pkt, open pollinated, untreated, NO GMO’s

    Hi Sam,
Sorry you had no luck. We do have potted trees coming on so if you hit “waitlist” you’ll be able to get a tree. They take years to size up. Richo

  4. Question

Got my seeds, thank you. I soaked all of them (30+ seeds) in water overnight but none of them passed the float test (i.e. they were all still floating the next day). Should I be concerned about their viability?

Hi, There is confusion on the ssp level–the plants are exactly as you see them pictured. The original stock is from Lebanon.

Received my seeds, thank you for your generosity (36 instead of 30). Is the pictured tree your tree that you harvested the seeds from? Curious to see what mom looks like

I recently purchased three cedrus libani seedlings, and wanted to thank Samantha and the team at strictly medicinal for ensuring the seedlings arrived on time, well packaged, and in great shape… and of course, the excellent customer service. Beautiful, Nobel tree (thank you Richo… Nobel is a very discriptive word, well suited for a Lebanese Cedar)..they are doing well.
