(4 customer reviews)

$4.95$12.00

Family:  Aster (Asteraceae)

Annual, 100 days to harvest of leaf and flower, 160 days to seed.

(Sweet Annie, Qing-hao) Native to China, growing in the wild, at the edges of civilization and in waste places. Plant prefers full sun, requires little moisture, and tolerates a wide range of soils, growing quickly to 7 feet, flowering in dangling yellow balls.  Traditional usage (WHO): Antimalarial, cancer therapy, widely used to keep virus from replicating.  Source of artemisinin.   Light dependent germinator.  Sow on surface of sandy soil and keep moist until germination, which takes a week or two. Under lights, I get a good response after exactly 9 days.  Very tiny seedlings grow rapidly and transplant well.

Packet contains 200 seeds
1 g contains ~57,000 seeds
5 g contains ~285,000 seeds
10 g contains ~570,000 seeds

    excellent seeds

i was able to germinate these with no problem. i poked holes in the bottom.of a jiffy seed starter tray for drainage, removed the peat moss tablets and filled it with miracle grow tropical mix soil, soaked it down, sprinkled the seeds and patted them down, then set the tray in the bed of my pickup truck in full sun. the sprouts began to appear after nine days. still too small for a photo but i can see them clearly

  2. Question

    Jeri Jaynes

In the catalog, it says antiviral, antimalarial, vermifugal, and antipandemic. Do you mean anti pandemic, as in our current pandemic of covid 19 & it’s variants? How do you use this herb for these properties? I always heard it was antimalarial, but assumed it was complicated and needed to be used by someone who knows what they are doing, and carefully due to the high thujone. Are there simple ways of using it, such as in a tea, that a lay person can use on a regular basis? I always wished I could make a tea that tastes like it smells, but thought it might be dangerous to use. I saw a question & answer about using it in coffee; is there a way to use it, and it not be bitter? It is so prolific, I would love to learn how to use it. Where can I find out more about this herb and easy ways to use it? Thank you

      Hello Lesha,
Yes, they’re fine in a container. They tend to size themselves to the container–if in a gallon pot, will tend to grow 2 feet instead of the 7 or so feet that one would expect if grown in the open garden.

Susie, No, you would have to use the flowering herb for a tincture, the seeds wouldn’t stretch. We’re going to be enabling the herb very soon–hit waitlist on the herb–it will stretch, it won’t run out super fast, we grew a lot of it, harvest probably next week. richo

We do ship to South Africa but our experience is that some of the packages do not pass customs, so we cannot guarantee receipt.
