Family:  Euphorb (Euphorbiaceae)

Hardy to Zones 10 to 12, will withstand slight frost.  Does well in potted culture.  Amla sometimes loses its leaves which is usually a temporary occurrence.

(Phyllanthus emblica) Evergreen tree native to India. Amla trees are beautiful, with feathery-leaved branches and a holy presence.  Amla bears a fruit that is among the highest in vitamin C among all fruits worldwide.  Traditional use (Ayurveda): asthma, bronchitis, dysentery, anemia.  Fruits are an ingredient in triphala.  The plant prefers regular soil and water, sun to part shade, and does well at elevation, as long as it isn’t too cold.  They do well in  pots, placed on the patio or in the greenhouse during the summer and brought in for the winter.  Space trees 10 to 15 feet apart.

      We always grow the AMLA from seed and since covid we have not been able to import seeds from india anymore. that’s why we don’t have it for you. sorry about that. richo
